There is a tragic irony in the fact that Allegra Versace Beck has been receiving so much attention recently for her battle with anorexia. Donatella, with her central position in the fashion world must be well aware of the current obsession with increasingly skinny models. Now, sadly, the price that some young women pay to follow this fashion is cruelly highlighted very close to home. Surely it’s time that the fashion industry (and other offending media) take an even more serious look at the fact that obtaining size zero can mean just that - total obliteration through self -starvation. Let’s sincerely hope that the Versace heiress is not another casualty of this increasingly widespread problem. There is no fashion worth dying for.
