As Dead as the Eighties
The eighties was perhaps one of the most severe moments in fashion. Love it or hate it the eighties has its tendencies to make its way back to current times in modified variations from neon colors to a cinched waist, let’s hope that shoulder pads don’t come back and haunt us. The most recent look resurrected from the new wave would be leggings. Who would have thought that tight stretchy pants would ever come back and be considered chic? Well, they did, and as much as it saddens me to say as a once supporter of the trend… they have managed to die once again.
Black leggings worn with an oversized t-shirt and a leather jacket equal effortless chic, but leggings are now available in an array of colors. I have to say that the chic in leggings has been done and now, thrown out the window. One can’t walk through the streets of Los Angeles without spotting leggings in every corner… worn with a tunic, or a shredded denim mini. The look has become predictable. Of course, there’s still hope. The wide leg pant is making its way in, but a severe and body conscious shape continues to hold reign. Black opaque tights or drainpipes are a good alternative to “the legging”. Let’s all take a moment and try to re invent this tired trend!
