Lily Cole To Revamp M&S
High Street favourite M&S have chosen fresh faced supermodel Lily Cole to front their new ad campaign. But are the ads, dare I say it, a little dull? Considering the huge effort the High Street conglomerate has made in regards to revamping, re-styling and re-injecting trend-led fashion into its womenswear, its latest adverts are anything but.
Lily Cole can be seen wearing an oversized white shirt worn underneath an extra long sleeveless cardigan; a practical wardrobe staple, but hardly one that makes a fashion statement, especially as being a key piece in Marks & Spencer’s Limited Collection. Teamed with leggings and a sensible shoe, it fails to make that transition from ‘mummsy retail’ to high street glamour, nor is it likely to cause queues outside its Oxford Street flagship.
Surely M&S should make the most of obtaining such a great model with the perfect body for the new ads and that this would be inspiration enough to inject some vibrancy to the collection? However, on a positive note, don’t let the magazine campaign put you off, there’s a lot more in offer in store than on paper.
