10,000 B.C.: A Legend Was Born
In order for you to enjoy this movie, you have to approach it with the idea that it is a fairy tale. It will certainly not show you the realities of life in 10,000 BC and it will not always make sense. It is a fairy tale after all.
Since I am a great fan of fairy tales, I enjoyed this film immensely. It strikes your imagination with its extravagant sets and mystical creatures. How true this all is to historical fact I wouldn’t know, but I’m guessing, not very.
It tells the story of a legend and like most legends, it is sprinkled with plenty of mystical characters. The hero can speak to animals and leads great rebellions. There is the wise old sorceress with magical powers and the gift of seeing the future. People die and are brought back to life. There is a beautiful princess with eyes the colour of the sea, who is captured and rescued. There is adventure, camaraderie, special effects and large, unusual animals.
As long as you are not misled by the trailer and do not perceive this as a realistic perception of events, then this is a highly enjoyable way to spend an evening or an afternoon. As an extra bonus everyone in it is rather, well….hot. After all, who doesn’t love to see men and women marauding in the wild? At least if you do get bored, there is plenty of eye candy to entertain yourself with.
