The Eyes Have It
Imagine, you are sitting at dinner with a companion, and across the room someone is staring at you. A provocative stranger is not just giving you a once-over, but they are staring at you throughout the whole meal. You are with someone, and they are with someone and all that is communicated are the non-verbal suggestions.
A safe form of cheating? Perhaps.
Lately, I have been hearing about this form of non-verbal seduction on an increasing level. The new trend is that most of the time, nothing comes of it. A friend of mine told me about a train trip where the eye-contact lasted for five hours. When he went to approach the voyeur to show interest, the person was startled by his contact. The fantasy world had ended when the train stopped. The person had forgotten him.
It used to be a simpler once, where a look really meant something. Now, is it that these heady gazes allow you to engage in a wide-awake fantasy? There comes a point where you begin to wonder if the other person is playing a game or showing genuine intrigue. If the eyes are the window within, one can only find out by doing as my friend did, approaching the person to discover if there is more to the look than a look.
Then again, if there is an undisturbed mystery, perhaps it is better to sip your tea and return a knowing smile. If the person is serious, they will approach you. Of course, that look could be for another time and place.

Due to the internet among other things, life has become extremely complicated…and with it ’signals’ the signs that tell us what someone is thinking or wanting for example. There is so much ‘game playing’ going on that it is extremely hard to know when someone is being sincere, just polite, or mind fucking us? And as far as imagery is concerned, one never knows if the photo of the person you are communicating with is recent, photo-shopped, or of some one else entirely? Yet everyone is interested in sex, but most are really afraid or just too up tight and restrained by convention to be able to discuss it openly and freely…..it is as hypocritical as the poor women in Saudi Arabia, who by law have to be completely covered in a black cloth head to ankle dress..but underneath sport strings and extremely sexy lingerie? Why can we not be open and honest?
