The Wish List
A friend and I were talking today about how some people are asking for the prince/princess of their dreams to come waltzing into their lives to make things better. He shared with me how he once read a personal ad that read, “300 pound woman, who is 9 months pregnant is looking for a man who is rich, handsome, and the man of my dreams.”
Funny? Sad? Or are we all shaking our heads right now at how unrealistic this picture is. Well ladies and gentlemen, please look in the mirror. So often people look and declare what they want but their actions and how they surround themselves with the wrong things…will not attract the desires of your heart.
There are a lot of “300 pound women” who think that they can get a wealthy man. However, are you a man or woman of worth? This discussion came about over a recent encounter with a man. I met this poor soul because he wanted me to look over his writings, and it was like reviewing a horror novel. I read over the tragedies of his life and asked him one question, “Where are you now?” His reply, “It’s still the same.” He never found love, never married, and never moved on from a horrible tragedy that happened 20 years ago.
He is only 39 years old and he believed his life was over. This my dear friends is where I want to say this epidemic of hopelessness is true only if you believe it. Take an honest inventory of who you are and what you want to be. Have something to offer a person in your life. Don’t just think a cute body is going to be enough, be a person of substance. There is a lot of truth to the saying, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
Yes…sex is important, but there must be a hell of a lot more than a great hair flip and a fluttering of eyelashes. There has to be you. Don’t let the lack in your life be the responsibility of someone else. Be responsible for you first.
