Those of you who read my recent ‘Daphne Guinness’s Charity Auction Action’ article in Big Smoke Soiree will be well aware of my new found foray into the real world of bids and balls – a far cry from the usual eBay endeavors.

My delight was utterly doubled, then, when I found out that Kerry Taylor’s forthcoming ‘Passion for Fashion’ auction (on Tuesday 10 June at Sotheby’s Olympia) was not only selling Jerry Hall’s vintage Bruce Oldfield and Antony Price items (in aid of worthy charity for the homeless Emmaus)…but there are also a fantastic four hundred and thirty lots available, featuring fashion from 1700-2000.

Now although I’ll be more likely to be putting my hand in the air for a 1982 shoulder-sweep sweater than the boots of a chimney-sweep circa 1782, it will be fascinating to see the path fashion has forged over the past three centuries – and how much people will pay for it.
