Chocolate & Strawberry Dessert Bruschetta
Those who know me will know that chocolate is my absolute joie de vivre, so you can imagine my utter delight when I chanced upon this simple yet scrumptious chocolate recipe. Created by the fabulous people at Whole Foods (another one of my favourite places on the planet), it is ideal for munching on during those upcoming balmy days spent lazing by the pool or lounging on the grass (although really, chocolate’s great anywhere…)
You will need:
-
Pain au Lait: this typical French bread is slightly sweet and buttery, with a tender crust and a delicate, but rich crumb
- Chocolate spread (nothing beats Nutella)
- Ripe strawberries
- Fresh mint
Thinly slice the bread and toast. Watch closely as this bread burns easily. Whilst the bread is still warm, spread a (thick) layer of chocolate spread, which will melt quickly. Top with strawberry slices and some mint leaves.
Alternatively, dollop some fresh ricotta cheese on the warm bread, drizzle with cherries in kirsch and dust with freshly-grated nutmeg. Absolutely divine (although I still prefer the chocolate version…)
