The Police Plan Final Show

After their successful reunion tour back in 2007 with an audience of nearly 2 million, The Police plan to perform their last show ever on August 7th at Madison Square Garden, New York. For those of you living under a gigantic rock, this three-piece rock band has been a major success since the ‘80s, and sold over 50 million albums worldwide. Major hits include Roxanne, Message in a Bottle, and Every Breath You Take.
Profits from all ticket sales from the final performance will be donated to New York public television stations Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21. The Police have also confirmed to contribute US$1 million to MillionTreesNYC, A program organized by Mayor Michael Bloomberg which aims to plant trees all over New York City. I love anything that benefits a good cause, so this concert sounds like a great way to kill two birds with one stone! Ticket prices range from US$150/€95 to US$5000/€3,177.
According to Billboard.com,
“Beginning Monday (June 9), members of the Police fan club will get first crack at tickets to the show, which will feature support from the B-52s. There is speculation that the concert will be broadcast at some point on public television, but details have yet to be announced.”
It looks like it really pays off to be a member of the Police fan club! For those of you who will be missing out on this bittersweet event, here is a music video to sit back and enjoy…
