Beach Beauty Survival Guide
When it comes to looking cool when you’re feeling hot on the beach, less is definitely more! As much as this is a holiday for you, consider it a holiday for your skin too, so I’ve written a few make up pointers to consider when you’re lounging by the pool this summer!
Start from the skin – invest in the best possible sun block that you can afford – plant based SPF moisturiser by Sisley (Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF30) is my favourite, it’s not greasy, it sinks into the skin while leaving it super soft, glowing and protected and does not leave you face pasty white as too many sunblocks do! Also its high enough protection will keep your skin safe enough from harmful summer rays! Don’t forget to also protect your lips! Ageing first shows on or around the mouth so wear a suitable lip balm with UV protection – Korner skincare Just Delight Lip Cream is gorgeous!
Skip the foundation and concealer, so the less you have on your skin, the better! Especially stay away from sparkly bronzers as they will doubly reflect the sun’s rays making you even prone to sunburn – keep them for the evening!
Wear mascara, waterproof or water-resistant of course! It will add a touch of glamour and make you feel special – L’Oreal Paris Double Extension Beauty Tubes Mascara will last until you go into a shower where it will just come off in tubes in contact with warm water, so you don’t have to carry an extra bottle of waterproof eye make up remover!

If you prefer the standard waterproof mascara Prescriptives does a brilliant one – Here to Stay 24 Hour Longwear Mascara when applied by itself will make lashes long and separated, but you can also layer it over a standard mascara to make it water-resistant!
If you want to inject some freshness in your face, the best way to do it is with colour! Eyes and lips are your playground, so have fun! On eyes, stick to one colour on lids or wear an eye pencil.
For pencils and liners head to MAC! Their Powerpoint Eye Pencil is waterproof and comes in both shimmer and matte finishes – Out To Sea will look stunning against the tan! Line the eyes both on top and bottom lids for a dramatic effect!
You can really have fun with lips this season! Most cosmetic companies have brought us an array of juicy colours to play with, just stick with sheer lipstick versions or lip glosses!
Givenchy’s Rouge Interdit Shine comes in two beautiful limited edition summery shades (Tahiti Coral and Ibiza Pink) that will leave lips glossy, moisturised and infused with colour! Plus, the packaging is gorgeous so you don’t have to be shy in showing it off!
Lancome has also played on the coral theme and brought a shade called Cyber Coral to their Juicy Pop lip gloss range.
Don’t forget to look after your nails, beach sand and sun’s UV rays make nail polish work twice as hard, but luckily for us we are spoilt for choice! For goddess in you, paint your nails with Dior Vernis in Coppery Ginger, a long lasting beautiful deep bronze colour! When I tested this nail polish it pretty much lasted for ages!
L’Oreal Paris has also made their Resist & Shine nail polishes UV resistant so be assured your nail colour won’t fade for a week! My two favourite colours are 220 and 525 which will enhance the tan beautifully!
