As much as water-based body creams and moisturizers are beneficial to our skins, come winter, it’s all about the oils. And if you fear feeling like a human oil slick, simply remember that less is more: before stepping out of the shower, dab a few drops of oil onto your body, and then just lightly dab yourself with a towel. The water on your body will help disperse the oil and lock in the moisture, leaving your skin deliciously soft. The same rule of course applies to facial oils. Wipe your face with a warm towel, put a few drops of oil onto your fingertips, and lightly massage your face. We’ve handpicked our favourite natural oil-based products that would be ideal both as a treat for yourself, or as unique little stocking-fillers this Christmas.
Abahna Frangipani and Sweet Orange Body Oil Spray (above): This organic product is packed with plenty of glorious emollient and protective ingredients that include carrot extract, coconut, and sweet almond oils. This lush oil also contains Monoi, the extract from the exotic Tiare flower from Tahiti, which is the secret behind the satin locks and glowing skin of Tahitian women. Available from the exquisite Mayfair-based e-boutique, Kuati.
Cowshed Evening Primrose Balancing Facial Oil (left):We simply cannot get enough of Cowshed, a fabulous range of beauty, baby and home products that was one of the first to use 100% natural ingredients. Each product is infused with their signature herbal fragrance that has been sourced from the original Cowshed Spa at Babington House in Somerset (which, by the way, should certainly be on your list of top spas). This facial oil, recently launched as part of its brand new Spa range, contains gamma linoleic acid and is designed to balance moisture levels for both normal as well as combination skins. It will leave a light lemony scent on your skin that will refreshen your thoughts and purify your complexion.
Huile Prodigieuse® (right): This oil is what made the ‘nature, efficacy, and luxury’ of NUXE famous the world
over. Despite having been created 15 years ago, it remains the brand’s top-selling product, with 1 bottle being sold every 16 seconds. This year, this cult oil has been revamped and improved, although its unique cocktail of 6 precious plant oils–which include hazelnut and macadamia–has remained. It can be used on anything from your hair to your body, and believe you me, once you discover this gem of a product, you will never be satisfied with anything else.
